Staff Reporter, Guwahati: In a landmark move to boost Assam’s cricketing prowess, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced international exposure tours for both the senior men’s and women’s teams. ACA Secretary Tridip Konwar shared the development during a press meet, calling it a major step forward for the state’s cricket ecosystem. The men’s team, captained by Denish Das, will tour Namibia for a five-match One-Day series, while the women’s team, led by Uma Chetry, will travel to Malaysia for their own five-match campaign. “These tours are designed to expose our players to international conditions and sharpen their competitive edge,” Konwar said. The men’s squad is set to depart on June 18, with matches scheduled in Windhoek on June 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29. The women’s team will play their series in Kuala Lumpur from July 7 to 15. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia lauded the ACA’s initiative, saying, “Playing against teams like Namibia and Malaysia will broaden the players' experience. It’s a necessary step for their development.” He also urged players to respect their opponents and remain focused. Also present were ACA joint secretary Rajinder Singh, treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa, vice-president Rajdeep Oja, and other officials. Expressing excitement, men’s captain Denish Das said, “It’s a huge opportunity for us to grow as a unit and perform in new conditions.” Women’s captain Uma Chetry added, “This initiative will strengthen our team and boost our confidence for future tournaments.”
