Hareswar Bora, Nagaon: In a proud moment for Assam, Aradhya Borah, a talented young artist from Nagaon, has been awarded the prestigious national-level Government Scholarship for Painting for the year 2024–2025. The scholarship is conferred by the Centre for Cultural Research and Training under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Aradhya, a ninth-grade student at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nagaon, is currently receiving specialized training in Assamese manuscript painting under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed artist Sujit Das at Jyoti Art School, Nagaon.
Hailing from Milanpur in Nagaon, Aradhya is the daughter of Riten Kumar Borah and Pranati Borah. She is the only student from Assam this year to receive the national scholarship specifically in the category of manuscript painting—an art form deeply rooted in the region’s cultural heritage.
This recognition continues the legacy of Jyoti Art School in nurturing artistic excellence. Last year, two of its students—Jannat Tamlina Hasan and Fariha Islam—were also awarded the National Scholarship in painting, bringing continued national attention to the institution’s contributions.
Aradhya's achievement stands as an inspiration to young artists across the state and highlights the importance of preserving traditional art forms through dedicated mentorship and institutional support.
