Husband kills wife and TET Teacher in Nagaon

Staff Reporter, Nagaon: A shocking double murder took place in Assam’s Kampur area of Nagaon district on Tuesday. A man allegedly killed his wife and a TET-qualified teacher, reportedly over an extramarital affair. The victims have been identified as Geeta Rani Das, the wife of the accused, and Bhaskar Nath, a teacher from Mangaldoi. Police say both were beaten to death with a rod inside a rented house where they were staying. The accused, Jayakanta Das, later surrendered at Kampur Police Station and admitted to the crime. He and his wife Geeta are from Dev Narikali in Kampur. Police believe a possible relationship between Geeta and Bhaskar may have led to the attack, though the exact reason is still under investigation. Officers have visited the crime scene and launched a detailed probe. Forensic evidence is being collected, and the accused is being questioned. The brutal killings have left the local community in shock. Many are struggling to come to terms with the violence that unfolded in their neighborhood.
