News Desk, New Delhi: In a renewed push toward agricultural transformation, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday launched the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” a national campaign aimed at increasing farm productivity and ensuring food security.
Speaking virtually to state agriculture ministers from Krishi Bhavan, Shri Chouhan urged states to actively participate in the campaign, which will run from May 29 to June 12. He called for unified efforts under the mantra “One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team” to uplift farmers and promote sustainable farming practices.
“This campaign is a significant step towards a developed India. Agriculture is not just a profession but a way of life for millions. By working together, we can turn farming into a profitable and secure livelihood,” said Shri Chouhan.
Under the initiative, more than 2,000 agricultural scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will visit villages across the country. They will share the latest farming techniques and innovations with farmers while collecting grassroots feedback to inform future research.
Shri Chouhan highlighted India’s recent record-breaking harvests in rice, maize, pulses, and oilseeds, crediting the joint efforts of central and state governments. He emphasized that these gains should serve as a foundation for further progress.
The campaign reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Lab to Land’ vision and seeks to bridge the gap between scientific research and ground-level application.
Key officials including Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat attended the session, reaffirming their support for the initiative.
With a clear roadmap and collective resolve, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to usher in a new era of prosperity for Indian agriculture.
