Arunachal reports two Covid-19 cases

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh has reported two fresh COVID-19 cases, both confirmed through RT-PCR testing conducted at the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) of TRIHMS, according to Dr. L. Jampa, State Surveillance Officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). The cases, both from Itanagar, are related. The first patient is a 34-year-old pregnant woman, currently 21 weeks into her pregnancy. She had shown mild symptoms such as fever and cough and was initially tested using a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at Rama Krishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) on May 26. The woman had recently travelled to Itanagar from Bengaluru by flight on May 13. Her infection was later confirmed through an RT-PCR test. The second case is her 53-year-old mother, who also tested positive via RT-PCR. However, she remains asymptomatic at present. Dr. Jampa emphasized that health authorities are actively monitoring the situation and that a comprehensive public health advisory will soon be issued in consultation with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi. He urged the public to stay calm and follow basic health precautions. “There is no cause for panic at the moment,” Dr. Jampa said, adding that contact tracing and necessary containment measures are underway. The new cases serve as a reminder for continued vigilance and responsible public behavior as authorities work to prevent further spread.
