Amingaon Cricket Stadium to Be Ready by Dec 2025: Assam CM

Assam Rising Guwahati, May 17: The construction of a world-class international cricket stadium at Amingaon, Guwahati, is moving swiftly, with completion targeted for December 2025. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the site today to assess progress and review the infrastructure readiness. The state-of-the-art stadium is designed to host all three formats of international cricket — Tests, ODIs, and T20s. During his site inspection, the Chief Minister confirmed that the grand inauguration is scheduled for February 2026, marking a new era for sports in Assam. In anticipation of high footfall during major events, the state government is working on tailored infrastructure solutions to manage traffic around the stadium. The initiative aims to prevent congestion and ensure smooth access for spectators and visitors. Beyond cricket, the venue will also function as a multi-purpose hub for musical concerts, cultural festivals, and other large-scale events, boosting Assam's entertainment and tourism prospects. “This stadium is part of our broader mission to elevate Assam’s sports infrastructure,” CM Sarma told reporters. He also emphasized the state's preparedness for hosting the upcoming National Games, underlining the construction of top-tier facilities across the region. In a significant development, Sarma announced that the reconstruction of Guwahati’s historic Nehru Stadium will begin next month. Additionally, he reiterated that the long-awaited bridge connecting North Guwahati will be inaugurated in December 2025 — a move expected to significantly enhance connectivity and ease transportation issues in the area. The stadium is poised to become a landmark not just for Assam, but for Indian sports at large.
