Illegal arms and ammunitions recovered in Sonitpur

Aditya Ankur, Tezpur, January 25: On the eve of Republic Day based on reliable source information regarding the secret storage of illegal arms and ammunitions Sonitpur Police conducted a search operation at Khwbra village of Batashipur area under Dhekiajuli Police Station. During the search operation the police team recovered 05 nos. of 36 Hand Grenades and 3 nos of Detonators buried underground in the jungle area near Khwbra village of Batashipur. As police sources said the items were found wrapped in a polythene bag and seized by the police as per the prescribed procedure. The sources added that one of the grenades had damaged the pin/ lever and was kept in a secured area under guard. BD squad of the Army is being contacted to dispose of it at the earliest. Meanwhile, a drive against illicit IMFL at Dalanipam & Paruwa on Friday under Mahabhairab Out Post area, here police seized 45 nos 180ml Rum,5 nos of 180 ml Officers Choice and a 375 ml / Imperial blue liquor bottles.
