Staff Reporter, Bajali, June 26: BHB College observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the aegis of the IQAC & Anti Tobacco cell of the college. On this occasion, an anti-drugs awareness meeting was held at the college premises. At the very beginning of the programme Mrinal Dutta on behalf of Anti-Tobacco cell spoke about the aims and objectives of the programme. Principal Dr. Nayan Jyoti Das, explained at length the evil effects of drugs and emphasized reduction in stigma associated with drug abuse and provision of treatment and quality care to the person with drug abuse. He further interacted with students, teachers and answered their queries. Attending the programme Dr. Dipti Kalita, Vice principal of the college enlightened the students upon drug abuse and the present scenario of drug uses and illicit trafficking. The event was also addressed by Dr. Kalpana Baishya, HoD in the department of Assamese. Dr. Baishya elaborated the consequences of the drug addicts. Atleastt 200 students along with teaching and non-teaching staff attended the programme.
