Australian Consul General in Kolkata, Mr. Hugh Boylan meets Assam Governor

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, June 11: Australian Consul General in Kolkata, Mr. Hugh Boylan, met Assam Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria at Raj Bhavan today and held discussion on issues of mutual interests like agriculture, dairy, minerals, education, green energy etc. Considering the large number of Indian students pursuing their studies in Australian universities, the duo talked about the academic ties between India and Australia. Governor Shri Kataria said that the academic relations should be a potential tool to enhance India-Australia relations as he advocated for more MoUs between institutions of higher education between India and Australia. The Governor also said that the nursing professionals of India are also playing a crucial role in the health sector of Australia. He also stressed on the need of expanding this tie. The Governor also talked with the Australian Envoy on green energy and how the Government of Assam is gradually shifting towards a more green environment by changing its gear away from fossil fuel. Governor Shri Kataria also assured that the Government of Assam will extend its full cooperation in taking India Australia bilateral relations to a greater height. Addl. Chief Secretary T&D Dept. Biswa Ranjan Samal, Secretary Higher Education and School Education Narayan Konwar, Secretary Tourism Padmapani Bora, Secretary to the Governor Swapna Dutta Deka; Director, Agriculture Bhaskar Pegu along with a host of other dignitaries were present in the meeting.
