TMC collects used banana trees for elephants

Staff Reporter, Sivasagar, November 14: Sivasagar Trinamool Congress unit today collected hundreds of banana trees used for auspicious Diwali lighting in front of houses and business establishments in the town as fodder for the hungry wild elephants that have been straying into paddy fields in different parts of the state. The leaders today said they would take the banana trees to Jorhat in trucks and unload them in elephant corridors so that they can reach them easily and that it is a humble effort to minimize male-elephant conflict in the state. The work has been appreciated by the animal lovers here.
