Bhupen Hazarika's birth anniversary celebrated in Mumbai

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, November 21: Gagana, Mumbai, the Assamese People's Association organised a cultural event on November 18 at the Club House, Hubtown Gardenia, Mira Road, Mumbai to mark the twelfth death anniversary of Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in a befitting manner. The event was attended by hundreds of Assamese and non-Assamese people who paid tribute to the great artist of indian music. The program began with the floral tribute portrait to the great artist and lighting of the traditional lamp by the august gathering presents. Among the renowned Assamese singers Rita Adhikari, Assamese music producer and composer Donit Hazarika, Assamese writer Jeebraj Barman recalled the contributions of Dr. Hazarika. Famous Marathi singer Ragini Kawathikar also paid tribute to the mass artist with an Assamese song. On behalf of the Gagana, Runa Sharma informed that the function was started with the beautiful performance of group song and dance performed by the young Assamese and non-assamese children trained by Sneha Borah, Bornali Changmai and Jackline Mech. The rich creations of this euphonious who mesmerised millions in decades, were portrayed by Radhika Bhuyan, Divyansh Syal, Riyan Borah, Saaz Gautam, Janaya Sharma, Chirashmita Gogoi, Dishan Syan, Tukaram Nayak, Mayank Barla, Sanvi Syal got huge applauded from the audience. The organisers offered special thanks to Gagana's Advisors Madhurjya Narayan Borah and Hemanta Bhuyan respectively for organising the event smoothly and successfully. The event was anchored by Radhika Bhuyan, Alina Rehman, Ednit Choudhary and Ridhiman Changmai. James Arnah, Assistant General Manager of Kokilaben Hospital and Research Institute, Mumbai was felicitated during the event for his financial support. The event was concluded by the timeless song of nature and brotherhood of sudhakantha "Ami Ekekhon Nawore Jatri" by all audiences present. At close, Hiramoni Deka Rahma, Assistant General Secretary, Gagana while offering the vote of thanks.
