Minister Pijush Hazarika attended 62nd Teachers’ Day in Dima Hasao

Staff Reporter, Haflong, September 5: The 62nd Teachers’ Day in Dima Hasao was centrally celebrated in Haflong today. Assam Minister of Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, Information & Public Relations Pijush Hazarika attended the meeting as chief guest where at least 17 teachers across the district were felicitated. Attending the event minister Hazarika said that an ideal teacher has a special place in the society. Our former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan whose birthday is celebrated as the Teachers’ Day was a great philosopher and also an ideal teacher. He had a deep love for teaching. He had all the qualities of an ideal teacher. The relationship between a teacher and a student should not be of fear, but should be based on respect- he added. He also underscored the role of teachers in developing a positive-minded society. Hazarika also said that the state government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is continuously working towards upliftment of the educational field. Under his guidance and observation for the first time in Assam, teachers were appointed on a complete merit basis through TET. The state government believes that Education is fundamental to development and growth of a society. Hazarika was accompanied by Assam Cabinet Minister for Power, Sports & Youth Welfare Nandita Gorlosa, Revenue & Disaster Management etc. minister Jogen Mohan, Debolal Gorlosa, chief executive member (CEM) of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council along with others.
