Golaghat, September 5: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the PG Courses at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya in Golaghat today and termed that the university's decision to introduce postgraduate courses on the auspicious occasion of Teachers' Day is truly noble. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the university's name pays homage to one of the most celebrated queens in the history of Assam that is Sati Sadhini. Her unwavering bravery and sacrificial spirit is an example as to what a woman can do while defending her territory and safeguarding the honor. The Governor said that the university is indeed a tribute to Sati Sadhini. He also said that the university will provide a unique opportunity to educate future generations about Sati Sadhini and her rich contribution. The Governor also threw lights on India’s rich legacy where teachers that are gurus play a crucial role in shaping humanity and earning admiration worldwide. He in the context, referred to the luminaries like Baisistha, Chanakya, Dayanand Saraswati, APJ Abdul Kalam etc who left an indelible mark in the rich tapestry of Indian knowledge. Speaking about the role of education, the Governor said that its primary goal should be to instill values and culture among the students, encouraging them to contribute positively to society. He also said that as India stepped into "Amrit Kaal" starting its journey to embrace a New India by 2047, the youth should be empowered to lead the nation. The universities, the Governor said, should take the responsibility in empowering the skills of the youth to serve the society. The Governor, moreover, asked Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya authority to take proactive measures to introduce courses that actively engage students, stimulate their knowledge gathering and skill development processes. Finance Minister Ajanata Neog, Agricultural Minister Atul Bora, MLA Sarupathar Biswajit Phukan and VC and DC were present on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor also visited the permanent site of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya at Rangajan. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, welcomed the Governor upon his arrival.
