Pijush Hazarika takes stock of departmental works

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, August 4: Water Resources and Public Affairs Minister, Pijush Hazarika took part in a special departmental review meeting in Janata Bhawan on August 4. The minister reviewed the works that have already been completed by the department and discussed the estimated costs and projects to be completed within the current year. The minister strictly directed the chief engineer and other engineers to ensure proper utilization of government funds while preparing the project estimates. Minister Hazarika urged all the departmental engineers to work by being accountable to the nation or with love for the state in mind. Highlighting past successes, Minister Hazarika pointed out how embankments and sluice gates constructed at Laharighat had protected a significant area from devastating floods, resulting in enhanced agricultural activities in the Morigaon district. The construction of a 9 km-long embankment in Majuli had similarly opened up vast agricultural possibilities. The minister emphasized that well-planned embankments and sluice gates not only ensure the safety of the regions but also play a crucial role in promoting socio-economic development.
