Staff Reporter,
Guwahati, August 14: Congress MP from Barpeta Abdul Khaleque, recently invited Priyanka Gandhi to contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election from Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency. Khaleque also said that Priyanka Gandhi is a national leader, so she has the right to contest any constituency of the country. Moreover she is really a dynamic and popular congress leader. So, there is nothing to worry about regarding her victory in the election. Responding to this political issue, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika today said that though we have ideological clashes with AIUDF, I still agree with the recent comment of AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on Priyanka Gandhi. Minister Hazarika said that Priyanka Gandhi is a migrated leader. We never worry about her candidature in Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency. Only a BJP grass-root leader is enough to lose her. We never think about it so seriously, rather we would like to welcome her to contest from the same constituency. The proposal of inviting Priyanka Gandhi by Abdul Khaleque clearly showcases the fear of losing his own identity at Barpeta constituency. It is to be mentioned that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi may contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Robert Vadra sparked on Sunday after asserting that his wife would be ‘very good in Parliament’. The remarks come mere weeks after reports quoting party sources suggested that Gandhi may be sent to the Rajya Sabha in the coming months. The Opposition bloc is currently working to stitch together an alliance that can take on the BJP in 2024. She should be in Lok Sabha for sure. She has all the qualifications for it. She would be very good in Parliament and she deserves to be there. Over the past few years, there have been repeated calls for Priyanka Gandhi to join the Upper House of Parliament.
