Awareness meeting on drug addiction, child marriage & rash driving held

Staff Reporter, Chirang, January 23 : An awareness meeting was held today in Basugaon on prevention of drug abuse, child marriage, rash driving without driving license etc. Principal of Basugaon College Ronen Chandra Muchahary, former principal of Basugaon Higher Secondary School Subal Chandra Roy, retired headmaster of Shantipur Higher Secondary School Bhanu Roy delivered informative and interesting speeches on the subject matter in the premises of Dhanbazar Durga Temple at Basugaon town. Nabajit Talukdar, police officer-in-charge of Basugaon police station, explained the purpose at the meeting presided over by Basugaon Civil Society president senior citizen and musician Ajit Kumar Nandi. On the eve of this, a lamp was lit and garlanded in front of the portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 126th Birth Anniversary. Senior musician Mridul Das performed the opening song on the occasion besides performing patriotic dances from Taal Dance Academy and Sarada Dance Academy. The programme concluded with the national anthem. On the occasion, Sadhan Mandal, Chairman of Basugaon Municipality, Sister Nirmala, Principal, St. Francis English School. Apart from them, social activists Sambhu Rajbongshi, Pradip Dutta and other members of the Helping Hands Welfare Society were also present.
