IIE launches “Magic Rice” and “Kon Joha” as Lachit Divas special

Staff Reporter, Guwahati, November 23: On the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan, the ever valiant Ahom General of Assam, the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship an autonomous organisation under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is celebrating the occasion by launching two new products -“Magic Rice'' and “Kon Joha” as Lachit Divas special edition. It is known to have been consumed by the great Ahom General, Bir Lachit Borphukan and his army during the famous battle of Saraighat which was fought and won against the Mughals, in the 17th century. Celebrating the connection between the historic event and the food product, TRISSAM intends to highlight the nutritious yet instant-cooking ability of the food that is indigenous to the state. Because of its “zero-cooking” identity, the term “Magic Rice'' (locally known as “Kumol Saul”) is attributed due to its ability of becoming ready-to-eat, instantaneously on soaking in water- a property that saves both time and fuel. Characterised by an aromatic endosperm, KonJoha rice is popular due to its unique aroma and is indigenously grown in the state of Assam. Besides Magic Rice, KonJoha is being launched as Lachit Divas special edition of Lachit Divas. Available at the TRISSAM stores in the IIE campus Lalmati and the Assam Secretariat grounds, Dispur, these products can also be ordered online through the IIE website or one can place their order through the TRISSAM social media pages on instagram, facebook and twitter. Dr. BhaskarJyoti Saud, Project Head of Pradhan Mantri Jan DhanYojana Scheme, as a part of which this brand “TRISSAM” has been developed, says “We are happy to launch these two products commemorating the 400th Birth Anniversary of our ever valiant Ahom General Bir Lachit Barphukan today. In today’s rapidly growing world, with new-technologies presenting new instant food every other day, TRISSAM wishes to connect age-old heritage with the modern world, encouraging a healthy and efficient diet among the younger generations that fits the busy lifestyle of people today.”
