Jorhat, October 18: Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL), a public sector oil company in Assam, has partnered with The Akshaya Patra Foundation as a part of its CSR initiative and donated ten customised food delivery vehicle to the Foundation’s kitchen in Jorhat, city of Assam. Akshaya Patra serves over 15,000 Government school children from the Jorhat kitchen. The newly donated vehicle will help the organisation reach out to over 12,000 beneficiary children in this region with nutritious, hygienic, and tasty mid-day meals every school day. The vehicle was flagged off at Akshaya Patra’s Kandi kitchen in the presence of Biswajit Bora, DGM, NRL and Bishamohan Buragohain, Senior Manager HR, NRL. On the behalf of Akshaya Patra, Janardhana Dasa, Unit President and Durgesh Gupta, Operations Manager were present at the flag-off event. Acknowledging the support, Janardhana Dasa, Unit President, Akshaya Patra, said, “We are thrilled about this partnership with Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) and immensely grateful to them for donating us the new delivery vehicles. Our collaboration with NRL for the school feeding programme started over 3 years ago and has just strengthened with time. We hope it will continue to flourish as we believe that such partnerships play a crucial role in helping us reach out to over 1.8 million children across the country every school day.” He further added, “We are also thankful to the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the Government of Assam for providing us the opportunity to serve the children.” Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has been supporting Akshaya Patra’s Mid-Day Meal (MDM) Programme implementation for the last 3 years. In the year 2019, they had donated two food delivery vehicles to the Foundation’s kitchen in Guwahati, Assam.
