Golaghat, September 3: Abhiruchi Sports Day which is celebrated on September 3 throughout the state to mark the occasion of the birthday of Bhogeswar Baruah, the first Assamese player to win a gold in an international level and Arjuna Awardee. Today on the occasion of Abhiruchi Sports Day Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya, Golaghat organized an event at Golaghat District Sports Association Stadium. A race of 1500 metres was organized among the students. Several students from ninth to eleventh standard took part in the race. The event was inaugurated by Vice President of Golaghat District Sports Association Dr Nripen Baruah. Sports organizer Ajoy Bharali flagged off the race. Golaghat District Badminton Association Secretary Nabajyoti Bora, Principal of Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya Smritirekha Bora, Sports Teacher Priyanka Saikia along with other teachers were present in the programme.
