Biswanath Chariali, September 6: Purnima Hazarika, a resident of Itakhola was arrested with the charge of killing a BJP leader today. According to information Janmani Bora (48), a resident of Shantipur village of No. 2 Itakhola under Itakhola out post was murdered by a group of miscreants on Monday night. Janmani was a young BJP leader and a ward member of Itakhola area. The body of Bora was spotted by local people on the bank of a nearby pond at around 8 on Monday night and immediately informed local police about the incident. A police team from Itakhola outpost reached the site immediately. Later on Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika, Biswanath DC Munindra Nath Nagatey and police officials also reached the incident site. Sootea police in collaboration with Itakhola out post conducted an investigation immediately and apprehended one Purnima Hazarika for further investigation. She was brought to Sootea police station that night. During the interrogation, Purnima admitted her involvement with the murder, said a police source. Police investigation is on. Police doubt about the involvement of other people in this murder case as a lady can't kill a man alone. While the old mother of Janmani Bora demanded exemplary punishment for those who were involved in the murder case.
