17 martyrs of QIM commemorated: 'Swahid Monbor Nath Aru Raktakta Biyallish' released

Staff Reporter, North Lakhimpur, September 22: Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, a social institution of Lakhimpur, commemorated 17 martyrs named Monbar Nath, Kumali Devi, Khahuli Nath, Chot Nath, Tileswari Baruah, Ratan Kachari, Moniram Boro, Mangal Kurmi, Dayal Das Panika, Mihiram Koch, Sarunath Chutia, Lerela Kachari, Kark Gour, Kanaklata Baruah, Mukunda Kakati and five more martyrs, who made supreme sacrifice for the nation on September 20 in 1942 during the Quit India Movement. On this occasion, the institution organized a special Shradhanjali programme on Tuesday evening at the public place of North Lakhimpur town near the old taxi stand. The programme started with lighting of 100 earthen lamps by 100 prominent persons of Lakhimpur. It was followed by a felicitation event, wherein 104-year old freedom fighter Snehalata Mazumder was given warm felicitation by Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra. The Shradhanjali programme was chaired by poet-cum-prominent social activist Uday Sankar Hazarika under the management of convener Sanjib Upadhyay. In the same programme, a book named "Swahid Monbor Nath Aru Raktakta Biyallish '' was released by Arabinda Nath, the general secretary of All Assam Nath Yogi Students' Union. Moreover, the video of a poem "Ranga Biyallishor Bish September", composed by Prasanta Kumar Nath by paying tribute to the martyrs, recited by Saptarishi Mohan, was also ceremonially released in the programme
by Niran Kumar Borah, the former assistant secretary of Axam Xahitya Xabha-cum-retired Principal of ADK Higher Secondary School. It was followed by a cultural programme with the recitation of patriotic poems and singing of patriotic songs by several poets and vocal artistes of the district. While speaking on the occasion, Jiten Baruah, the director of the Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, said that the Shradhanjali programme was organized coinciding with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in order to disseminate the perennial message of the patriotic ideology of the less known martyrs in the present-day society and the upcoming generations.
