Huge ganza seized in Gossaigaon: 1 held

Staff Reporter, Gossaigaon, September 22: The Unabated process for a drug free society by the Kokrajhar District police personnel is in a full swing. A team of police personnel led by Amar Jyoti Bailung, O/C, Gossaigaon police station on Wednesday in a tip off information seized a huge quantity of illegal ganza from a container from Gossaigaon Sapat Bridge and apprehended the driver of the container. The container bearing registration number 01-AB-7316 was heading towards Siliguri in West Bengal from Guwahati, Assam for the delivery of the consignment but failed and was intercepted by the police in Gossaigaon. Amar Jyoti Bailung, O/C, Gossaigaon police station said that acting on a secret input we have carried out a search operation near Sapat Bridge in Gossaigaon where we have successfully seized around 1483.40 kg drugs which was soaped into 270 big packets and apprehended one Ranjit Churasia on the possession. It is said that the value of the seized ganza would be around INR 3 crore in the open market. Investigation is on to find out more information about the consignment, police said. Later on in the evening Prateek Thube Vijay Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar arrived at Gossaigaon Police Station and took stock of the seized ganza along with the container for further investigation.
