TAYPA burnt effigy of Angoorlata Deka at Golaghat

Staff Reporter, Golaghat, August 1: Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad ( TAYPA) Golaghat District Committee yesterday staged protest against State President of BJP Mahila Morcha and former MLA of Batadrawa Constituency Angoorlata Deka for making ill remarks on the Ahom Community. Protesters led by President of the TAYPA Golaghat District Committee Subhon Konwar burnt an effigy of the BJP leader at Bata Point in Golaghat. The organization lodged an FIR against Angoorlata Deka at Golaghat Police Station. The protesters stated that the Tai Ahom community had played the key role in the formation of the greater Assamese community and it has a great history and making ill remarks on this community is not only an insult to the Tai Ahom community but also a great insult to the entire Assamese community. So the protesters demanded that Angoorlata Deka must apologize for this act. It is to be mentioned that in a rally of the BJP led by Angoorlata Deka slogans were raised against the Tai Ahom community.
