Covid Vaccination & Intensified Diarrhea-control campaign launched in NLP

Zulfiqur Ali, North Lakhimpur, July 15: Dr. Jagadish Goswami, Joint Director and Health Services of Lakhimpur District launched Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav and Intensified Diarrhea-control fortnight campaign at the Conference Hall, Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, North Lakhimpur, in Lakhimpur District today. 75 days of ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’,commenced from today, providing free Precaution Dose to all adults (18 years and above) that are available at all Government COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs). Being implemented in a ‘Mission Mode’ this special COVID vaccination drive is a part of the celebration for Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The special drive is aimed to increase uptake for the Precaution Dose of COVID Vaccine among the eligible adult population. It may be mentioned here that till July 15, 8,39,317 people of Lakhimpur district have received the 1st dose, 8,28,00 have received the 2nd dose while 23,385 have received the precautionary dose of the Covid vaccine. Majul Ali Hazarika, District Community Mobilizer (NHM) of Lakhimpur District told in the launching program that Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) consists of a set of activities to be implemented in an intensified manner for the prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhea across the state as well as in the district. The goal of IDCF is to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhea.”“Special ORS and zinc corners had been set up in all government health facilities across the district and health workers would hold demonstrations on how to prepare ORS solutions.”
He added. In this IDCF campaign, The Health workers will also reach every household and sensitize the people to the treatment and preventive measures to control diarrhea. These activities mainly include intensification of advocacy and awareness generation activities for diarrhea management, strengthening service provision for diarrhea case management, prepositioning of ORS by ASHA in households with under-five children, and awareness generation activities for hygiene and sanitation. At the end of the program, Geetali Duwara, ADC (Health) of Lakhimpur District inaugurated the Awareness Vahan to promote the IDCF among the public. Chief Medical and Health officers (CD), Sub-Divisional Medical and Health officials, the District Program management unit of National Health Mission, and the health workers of the district and public were present during the launching program.
