HARESWAR BORA,
Nagaon, July 10: Sensation over the mysterious killing of a man by burning alive and then buried in secret by some villagers prevailed here at Borlalungaon village on Sunday too. Meanwhile Samaguri police led by SDPO, Kaliabor, Mrinmoy Das arrested around five persons including three women last night itself in connection with the sensational mob lynching incident and also recovered the body of the victim man within hours from the site where he was buried in secret, sources added. Sources claimed that the body of the victim was spotted by police at midnight on Saturday itself and sent to Nagaon BP Civil Hospital for postmortem. It was found that over 90 percent of the body was burnt, sources said. Besides, police also arrested five persons including three women in connection with the gruesome act. They have been identified as Nareswar Bordoloi, Ratneswar Bordoloi, Bharati Bordoloi, Padumi Bordoloi and Barasha rani Bordoloi of Borlalungaon village, sources from police added further. Elaborating about the entire episode, sources claimed that the Saturday gruesome act was a follow up of a mysterious death of a newly married woman named Sabita Pator. Body of the woman was recovered from a nearby pond a week ago and villagers of the locality initially thought that she had died after falling into the pond. But incidentally, one Bharati Bordoloi of the village alleged a couple of days back that the newly married woman was killed by five persons including Ranjit Bordoloi. Following her allegation, some villagers convened a gram sabha for public hearing last evening where Ranjit Bordoloi was quizzed repeatedly about his involvement in the murder of the newly married woman. During public interrogation, Ranjit Bordoloi admitted his crime as well as his involvement in the murder. Being angry at his statement, some attendants present in the meeting, immediately leaped on him and also set him on fire. Subsequently, his body was buried in secret by the villagers, sources added further.
