Nagaon, July 10: Based on a secret tip off, a team from Forest Headquarters, Guwahati and Dakshin Nagaon Forest Division, Hojai carried out a massive search operation at Lanka late afternoon on Saturday last. During the operation, forest officials seized over 3.2 kilograms of pangolin scales from the possessions of three persons. The officials of the department concerned immediately arrested all of them on spot and further investigation is on, sources added.
According to sources, the arrested persons have been identified as Jaban Uddin (36), Jiyabur Rahman (38) and Billal Ahmed (45). They have been involved in the illegal trafficking of skin, flesh, horns, etc of various wild and species of the region for a long time, sources said further.
