Hojai, July 11: Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma said here on Monday that 18000 flood affected families within Hojai District will get a one time aid of rupees three thousand eight hundred. Notably, CM Sarma was here to take stock of flood affected areas in Hojai. His helicopter landed here at 11:30 am at the playground of Jugijan Higher Secondary School in Hojai. At first, CM Sarma inspected the flood affected areas of Dakshin Kenduri area, Nabhanga area and interacted with the local villagers. During the visit he was accompanied by local MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh, Lumding MLA Shibu Mishra, BJP District President Anup Deb, AGP District President Reziaul Karim Choudhury,Deputy Commissioner Anupam Choudhury and officials of different departments. After the tour of the flood affected areas, a discussion meeting was held with all the officials of concerned departments at the premises of Jugijan Higher Secondary School. During the meeting, CM gave many vital instructions to all the departments and asked them to actively work for the welfare of the people at large. On the other hand, while interacting with the media, Chief Minister said during the inspection of the deluge affected area the local villagers has given us suggestions to build an embankment of thirty five kilometers,after proper discussions with the concerned department will take the decision and within two years the dyke will be built before that within one year six-high lands will be constructed under MNREGA scheme in those flood prone areas and after the work of Embankment 25 km roads will be constructed. CM also said a total aid of rupees 95000 will be provided to those people whose home is totally or severely damaged by flood and those whose have suffered partial damage they will also be extended financial help from government however Sarma didn't disclose the amount for them. He said the survey of the damage caused due to flood is undergoing and by July 15 it will be completed and the list of beneficiaries will be highlighted then accordingly the amount will be distributed among them. On the other hand, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said Hojai has many such places which have mythological and historical importance for that purpose he will again visit the area soon and will see how this area can be developed.
