Guwahati, June 21: The 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY) was celebrated on June 21 with full enthusiasm and vigor, in a colorful program jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications – Assam Licensed Service Area and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), at Yoga Hall, BSNL Bhawan, Pan bazar, Guwahati. The program was attended by more than 150 participants, which included the officers and staff of all units of DoT- LSA, CCA, BSNL, BBNL and WMO, including their family members. The core purpose of IDY is to create mass awareness regarding the Health Benefits of Yoga for the people. Over the years, IDY has become a mass movement for good health. The 8th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY-2022) was promoted through multiple programs by the Ministry of Ayush with the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The main event of the IDY- 2022 was organized at Mysore, Karnataka under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition, various ministries of Govt of India organized the program simultaneously at 75 iconic locations across the country. Under the Ministry of Communications, Union Minister of Communications, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan led the event at Konark, Orissa and Dholavira, Gujrat, respectively. The live streaming of the events were witnessed live by all participants on large LED screens inside the Yoga Hall at BSNL Bhawan. This was followed by the common Yoga protocol which was practiced by all participants under the guidance of Yoga Guru, Sadanand Mishra. The participants pledged to adopt Yoga in their daily routine for physical and mental fitness. The program concluded with the National Anthem. The program was presided by C.P. Samant, Sr.DDG, Assam LSA. A.K. Pahi, CGM BSNL was the Chief Guest of the event. The event was also graced by Sandipta Pahi, President, Telecom Women Welfare Organisation (TWWO), Assam, G.G. Shabong, CCA, Assam, along with other senior officers of LSA, BSNL, BBNL and WMO Assam Circle. Saurav Borgohain, PRO to CGMT, BSNL also took active part in successful conduction of the event.
