RPF rescued 11 persons in two days

 



Rescued 429, apprehended 16 traffickers in last 8 months

Maligaon, Sept 30: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 11 persons including minor children and women from trains and stations in different operations conducted over N. F. Railway on September, 27th and 28th. In an incident on September, 28, RPF team of Dharmanagar while conducting a check at Dharmanagar railway station, rescued two runaway minor boys, residents of Karimganj, Assam and North Tripura. Later, the rescued boys were handed over to Childline, Dharmanagar (Tripura) for safe custody. In another such incident on  September 27th RPF train escort party of train No. 02345 UP (Howrah – Guwahati Express special) rescued one girl, a resident of Khalagaon, Bhagalpur (Bihar). The matter was informed to her family members and later, she was handed over to her mother after proper identification. In the night CIB Team of RPF/Katihar along with RPF team of Katihar (East) while conducting joint check at Katihar railway station rescued five runaway minor boys; all are residents of Araria district of Bihar. Later, the rescued boys were handed over to Railway ChildLine/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action. Again the same day RPF team of Katihar (East), while checking at Labha railway station, rescued one runaway minor boy, a resident of Kishanganj district of Bihar. Later, the rescued boy was handed over to Railway ChildLine/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action. On that day, Meri Saheli team of RPF Katihar while checking at Katihar railway station rescued one runaway minor girl, resident of Purnea district of Bihar. Later, the rescued girl was handed over to ChildLine/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action. In another incident, the RPF team of Kamakhyaguri while checking at Kamakhyaguri railway station rescued one runaway minor girl resident of Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Later, the rescued girl was handed over to Railway ChildLine/ Alipurduar Junction for safe custody and further course of action.  It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway rescued 429 persons including minor children and women during January to August this year; out of this 69 persons were rescued from being trafficked. RPF of N. F. Railway also apprehended 16 persons during this period involved in human trafficking.
