CM inaugurates several bridges and visits school, AWC in Dhemaji

Dispur, Sept 30: Prior to chairing the cabinet meeting at Dhemaji, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Dihingia Chuk Anganwadi Centre in Dhemaji and interacted with the children there while taking stock of the facilities and services at the Centre. He thanked the Anganwadi workers and supervisors for their work and urged them to ensure proper implementation of the schemes for providing nutrition to the children and pregnant women. He also announced that the State Government would provide Rs 25 lakh from the Social Welfare Dept for rebuilding the AWC. The Chief Minister also visited the Batgharia HS School and Batgharia ME School in Dhemaji and interacted with students and teachers. He attended sports goods and gym equipment donation programmes at Batgharia Anchalik Sports Club. Saying that education and sports must go hand in hand for all round development of the young generation and for building a strong future society, he announced that Education Department will provide necessary funds for construction of all classrooms in the HS School while Directorate of Sports will provide Rs 3 lakh annually for the Sports Club and one-time additional grant of Rs 10 lakh will be provided for purchasing rest of the sports equipments. Education Minister Dr Ranuj Pegu, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Sports Minister Bimal Bora, MP Pradan Baruah and Member Secretary of SLAC for Students and Youth Welfare Lakhya Konwar were present at the programme. Later, the Chief Minister also inaugurated three bridges in Dhemaji over Fatiha-Bardubi rivulet on the Bengenagora- Kothalguri road in Dhemaji built by PWD under PMGSY 2017-18, another over Batua River on Batua- Rangkup road under CM’s Special Package and the Dusutimukh-Kaitong connecting bridge under PMGSY 2018-19. Education Minister Dr Ranuj Pegu, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, MP Pradan Baruah and MLA Bhuban Pegu were present on the occasion.
