Swarnalipi Multilingual National Poets Meet on Unity in diversity stressed

Guwahati, August 17: “Poets recreate the meaning of existence by means of words and express concern about contemporary happenings in the name of democracy, terrorism, religion, communal violence etc. in different parts of the world including Syria, Afghanistan, India and inspire the sufferers to find solace for survival” said by Dr. Pranjit Bora, Professor of Assamese, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University while inaugurating the ‘Swarnalipi Multilingual National Poets’ Meet’ to mark the Independence Day. Participating from Kerala with his several numbers of English poems Dr. A. J. Thomas, the former Editor of Indian Literature, Sahitya Akademi said that whenever we appreciate others the moment we celebrate unity in diversity and the virtual platform really reduces our gaps during the pandemic. Addressing from New Delhi with Hindi poems Brojendra Tripathi, the former Editor of Samakalin Bharatiya Sahitya, Sahitya Akademi also stressed need of unity among diversity and showed his concern portraying sense of loss, pain and anguish in cities like Delhi. The program began with the famous poetry of T. S. Eliot “A man’s destination is not his destiny/Every country is home to one man” (To the Indian who died in Africa) and the Assamese poem of  Padmadhar Chaliha ‘Asom Gourav’ presented by Hridayananda Gogoi, the Editor of Swarnalipi who also chaired the multilingual poetry festival. Representing many languages from different parts of the country several other poets have joined the festival and among others Dr. Aniamma Joseph (Malayalam), Dr. Bhaskar Ramdas (Konkani), Lakshmy N (Telugu), A. J. Thomas (English), Shailabala Mahapatra (Oriya) and B.Tripathi (Hindi) were prominent. From home state the celebrated Assamese poets Anis Uz  Zaman, Anuvab Tulasi, Nilim Kumar, Dr. Jyotirekha Hazarika,  Dr. Nilima Thakuria Haque, Dr. Moromi Borthakur Talukdar, Rajib Kumar Phukan, Madhuri Kalita Chowdhury, Dr. Raghunath Kagyung, Juli Barua, Gitanjali Bhagawati, Rajib Bordoloi (Kolkata), Geeta Sarma (Mumbai), Juri Goswami, Gunaram Saikia, Mitali Goswami, Mridul Sahariah, Arunima Goswami and many more read their latest poems. The poetry festival concluded with a note from the chair that the function of poetry should be an inspiration for living and despite all hurdles it must carry the message of humanity, compassion and peace for the entire world, stated a release by Dhoritry Goswami, publicity secretary of the magazine.
