Chief Minister visits Raj Bhavan, briefs Governor about state of affairs

 


Guwahati, July 31: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today met Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan and discussed with him several issues of vital importance like implementation of new Education Policy 2020, the border situation between Assam and Mizoram especially in view of the killing of six Assam police personnel along the border and functioning of state universities. In the meeting, the duo emphasised on assiduous implementation of NEP 2020 for transforming academic landscape in the state and creation of very innovative talent pool in the state. With regard to Assam-Mizoram border, the duo exhorted on the measures for de-escalating tension along the border. The Chief Minister also informed the Governor that the State government has disbursed the cheques as one time financial assistance to the family members of police personnel killed in the border skirmishes. The meeting also elaborately discussed the functioning of the universities and the new initiatives that are likely to be introduced to make the universities more useful and responsive in response to the changing needs of higher education.
