About the Editor-in-Chief

Abhijit Chaliha was born in Amaguri village, located in the Lakhimpur district of Assam. He completed his undergraduate studies at Pub Dikrong College and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Dibrugarh University.

Chaliha began his professional journey in 2009 as a Medical Representative with Ozone Pharmaceuticals. Over the years, he built a robust career in the pharmaceutical industry, serving in top-ranking companies such as Himalaya Drug Company, Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Signutra. He also held the position of Area Manager in multinational firms like Signova Pharma and Micro Labs.

Despite a flourishing career in pharmaceuticals, Chaliha's passion for journalism led him to change course. He began his media career as a Reporter with UA TV, a cable news channel in Upper Assam based in Dibrugarh. Concurrently, he also reported for Asomiya Pratidin, one of Assam’s leading Assamese dailies. His journalistic path continued through roles in prominent publications like Agradoot and Ajir Asom. In 2013, he joined Prag News, a satellite news channel, as a Reporter covering the Dibrugarh district headquarters. In addition, he served as a casual announcer with All India Radio, Dibrugarh.

Currently, Abhijit Chaliha is the News Editor of The Assam Rising, an English daily newspaper. He also holds the position of Chief Editor of the monthly peer-reviewed research journal Natun Prayash (ISSN) and is the Editor-in-Chief of the bilingual news web portal The Reveal.

Chaliha is not only a seasoned journalist but also an accomplished writer. He earned a place in the Assam Book of Records for authoring Assam's smallest poetry book, Preetiloi Emuthi Kabita, which measures just 5 cm in height and 3.5 cm in width—about the size of a matchbox. A prolific literary contributor, Chaliha frequently writes poems, articles, and essays for newspapers, magazines, and digital platforms.
