Nikhil Kumar Mundra, Hojai: In line with the Assam Government’s initiative to promote girls’ education, the “Nijut Moina” scheme was inaugurated on Wednesday at the central auditorium of Bharat Tirtha Bhavan, Srimanta Sankardev Campus, Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai. The scheme aims to empower female students by providing financial support to pursue higher education. The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from first and third-semester undergraduate and postgraduate students across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Chief Guest and Hojai MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh hailed the scheme as a social revolution, stating that it would help female students across the state overcome financial barriers to education. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury commended the government’s effort, emphasizing its role in reducing dropouts and ensuring gender equity. Application forms were distributed to all eligible female students, with over 100 actively participating in the event. Teachers and university staff extended full support to ensure smooth coordination. Given Hojai’s socio-economic diversity, the scheme is expected to bring meaningful change by enabling access to education for underprivileged girls. Registrar (in-charge) Dr. Sekhar Kanti Sarkar assured full administrative support for the initiative’s successful implementation.
