Aizawl: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another prime suspect in the brutal killing of three women and three children in Manipur's Jiribam district last year. The accused, Lalrosang Hmar alias Rosang, a resident of Moinathol village, was apprehended during a coordinated operation in Aizawl, Mizoram. According to the NIA, Lalrosang played an active role in the planning and execution of the heinous killings, which took place on November 11, 2023. His arrest follows the detention of Thanglienlal Hmar, another accused, from Aizawl just a day earlier. On July 31, two more suspects—Lalrosang Hmar and Dilkhosh Grant of Cachar, Assam—were also taken into custody in the same city, indicating a deepening investigation that spans multiple states. The case involves the abduction and cold-blooded murder of six victims in the Borebekra area of Jiribam, with militants allegedly dumping the bodies in the Barak River. The crime sparked widespread outrage across the region. During Lalrosang’s arrest, officials recovered a mobile phone and SIM card, now under forensic analysis to uncover further evidence. With multiple suspects now in custody, the NIA, in collaboration with state police, is intensifying efforts to bring all involved to justice.
