Dhemaji College Celebrates 61st Foundation Day with Enthusiasm

Papu Baruah, Dhemaji: Dhemaji College celebrated its 61st Foundation Day with great fervour and participation recently at the college premises. The day-long celebration began with the ceremonial hoisting of the college flag by Principal Dr. Dipak Kumar Neog, followed by swahid tarpan led by Vice-Principal Dipen Kakati in memory of martyrs. To mark the occasion, Dr. Labanya Hazarika, college librarian, initiated a sapling plantation drive, symbolising growth and sustainability. An open meeting was held under the presidentship of Principal Dr. Neog was formally inaugurated by Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner Rahul Suresh Javir. The gathering paid tribute to former teachers, staff, and well-wishers of the institution, an initiative led by retired professor Dr. Sunit Kumar Gogoi. The meeting was co-moderated by Professor Sailen Borkakati and Dr. Upen Koch. A key highlight of the event was a thought-provoking speech by Manoj Kumar Goswami, Chief Editor of Amaar Asom and NKTV PLUS, who spoke on the evolving landscape of higher education in the context of its ultimate goals. The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including senior journalist and litterateur Umesh Chetia, Dhemaji Town Development Authority Chairman Tolan Konwar, and AASU leader Dipak Sarmah, among others. The celebration reflected the college’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
