Deplorable Condition of Road to Habrubil RNB Hospital: Public Forced to Suffer Daily

Sayed Ali, Gossaigaon: The road leading from the Sub-Divisional Officers office in Gossaigaon to the Habrubil RNB Civil Hospital has fallen into a state of disrepair, causing severe hardship for the local population. This crucial road, which witnesses heavy daily traffic, has developed large potholes, making travel hazardous and uncomfortable. Due to years of neglect and lack of maintenance, the road has further deteriorated during the monsoon season. Even a brief spell of rain results in waterlogged potholes, turning the entire stretch into a dangerously damaged route. Patients, especially pregnant women and those in critical condition, along with their families, are forced to navigate this treacherous path to reach the hospital, often risking their health and lives. Local residents have repeatedly appealed both verbally and in writing to the concerned authorities over the past several months, requesting urgent repairs. However, no visible steps have been taken so far. The current condition of the road is not only affecting public mobility but also impacting daily administrative operations due to its proximity to the SDO office. Expressing strong resentment, Fazar Hussain, President of the Gossaigaon Auto Drivers' Association stated that It is unfortunate that the Assam Government and the BTR administration have completely ignored such a vital road. Our drivers, patients, and especially pregnant women are the worst affected. The authorities must realize the gravity of the situation and initiate repairs without delay. Citizens and local civil organizations have strongly demanded immediate action to repair the road and have called on the government to intervene before the situation worsens further before the upcoming BTC election scheduled to be held in September.
