Noted physician Biswarup Gohain Baruah passes away

Hareswar Bora, Nagaon: Dr Biswarup Gohain Baruah, a prominent physician and resident of Panigaon, Polytechnic Road, Bishnu Rabha by lane in Nagaon town, passed away last night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati. According to sources, Dr Baruah suddenly fell ill on the morning of June 4 and was immediately taken to a private hospital in Nagaon by his family members. Later that day, he was shifted to a private hospital in Guwahati for better treatment. At the time of his demise, Dr Baruah was serving as Medical Officer (School Health) under the Nagaon Sub-Divisional Health and Medical Department. He was well-known as a skilled gynecologist and was actively involved in various social and cultural activities in Nagaon. The news of his demise spread quickly, and many admirers, doctors, and well-wishers visited his residence to pay their last respects. His body was taken to the office of the Joint Director, Nagaon District Health Department, where doctors, retired medical professionals, and health department staff paid their final respect. Dr Baruah's demise has cast a pall of gloom on the medical community in Nagaon, and the Indian Medical Association has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family. Rupak Sarma, MLA of Nagaon-Batadroba, also consoled Dr Baruah's death, stating that his passing away is an irreparable loss to the medical field in Nagaon. Former Minister Girindra Kumar Baruah, former MLA Dr Durlav Chamua, and various organizations have also expressed their deep sorrow and condolences. Dr Baruah is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a host of kith and kin.
