Itanagar: In a compassionate move to support the national fight against tuberculosis, Liromoba MLA Pesi Jilen of the People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) has adopted four TB patients under the Government of India’s Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, a key component of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The adoption was formally announced during a programme held in Aalo, West Siang district, where MLA Jilen offered words of encouragement to the patients. “Tuberculosis is completely curable with proper medication, care, and nutrition,” he said. “Our collective compassion and support can instill strength and hope in those affected.” Jilen also highlighted the importance of empathy in public service, stating that even small acts by elected representatives can significantly impact people's lives when driven by purpose. The event was coordinated by Dr. Nyade Padu, District Tuberculosis Officer, and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mabi Taipodia Jini and District Medical Officer Dr. Linya Lollen, both of whom were acknowledged for their continued support. The Ni-Kshay Mitra programme encourages individuals and institutions to adopt TB patients by offering nutritional and psychosocial assistance. The initiative is part of India’s broader goal to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025.
