A Corrospondent, Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu has pledged full support to the Assam Science Society (ASS), including the purchase of its publications and other necessary assistance, during a visit to the Society’s headquarters on Sunday. Dr. Pegu met with newly elected President Dr. Arup Kumar Mishra, who also chairs the Assam Pollution Control Board, along with immediate past president Dr. Dhireswar Kalita, General Secretary Mrinal Hazarika, and other office-bearers during the Society’s executive meeting. Dr. Mishra highlighted the Society’s financial challenges, to which the minister responded by assuring the procurement of ASS publications under the Taburam Taid Library Foundation. He also promised to facilitate the distribution of the Society’s science magazine Bigyan Jeuti to 4,300 schools across Assam through the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA). Additionally, Dr. Pegu assured the revival of the non-functional Mobile Science Laboratory, previously run under RMSA, by bringing it under the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan. Expressing satisfaction with the Society’s facilities, Dr. Pegu voiced optimism that under Dr. Mishra’s leadership, the Assam Science Society would grow into a vibrant force in promoting science and technology in the state.
