Barpeta to host second Lok Adalat of the Year on June 14

Staff Reporter, Barpeta: The Barpeta district in Assam is set to host its second Lok Adalat of the year on June 14, as part of a nationwide initiative to ensure accessible and efficient justice delivery. The event is being organized under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA). The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Barpeta, will coordinate the Lok Adalat proceedings across several key venues. These include the premises of the District & Sessions Judge Court, the Family Court, the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, and the courts and offices under the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Barpeta. This special court initiative will focus on the swift disposal of various types of pending cases, including disputes related to bank loans, electricity bills, telephone service charges, and motor accident compensation claims. Public sector entities such as BSNL, APDCL, and banks will also participate to facilitate the resolution of financial and service-related grievances. Highlighting the significance of this initiative, the District Legal Services Authority has urged members of the public to come forward and participate actively in the Lok Adalat. It emphasized that such platforms not only reduce the burden on regular courts but also promote amicable settlements and speedy justice at the grassroots level. By bringing together legal authorities, service providers, and affected individuals, the upcoming Lok Adalat in Barpeta is expected to play a vital role in fostering a culture of alternative dispute resolution in the region.
