Assam Rifles conducts two-day self-defence capsule for girls

Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali: In a significant step toward promoting women empowerment and community engagement, the Assam Rifles successfully organized a two-day Self-Defence Capsule for girl students on June 6 and 7 at Charidwar Hall and the Football Ground within Lokra Garrison, according to an official press release. On the first day, June 6, a total of 81 girls from the Lokra Garrison enthusiastically participated in the event. Trainers from the Balipara Girls Self Defence Academy led the sessions, beginning with an energetic demonstration followed by practical hands-on training. The following day, June 7, the initiative was extended to the civilian population, with 30 girls from nearby areas in Lokra, Sonitpur district, taking part in a similar session. The primary objective of the self-defence capsule was to equip young girls with essential defensive techniques, instilling in them a sense of confidence and preparedness to face everyday challenges. The initiative received widespread appreciation from participants and members of the local community alike, reflecting the growing recognition of the need for such empowering programs in both military and civilian spheres. The Assam Rifles reaffirmed its continued commitment to fostering a safe and empowered environment for women through such community-oriented outreach initiatives.
