Staff Reporter, Nagaon: In a swift and strategic operation, Amguri Police under Kaliabor sub-division apprehended a five-member gang of armed dacoits early Sunday morning at Purba Lailuri. The gang was caught while returning from a robbery they had allegedly carried out in the Jinjiya police station area of Biswanath district. During the arrest, police recovered a 9mm pistol, four live rounds of ammunition, a magazine, ₹33,000 in cash, four mobile phones, and a khukuri. A Tata Yodha vehicle (registration number AS 02 DC 3799) used during the robbery was also seized. The arrested individuals have been identified as: Zahirul Islam (Rupohi PS area), Shamim Ali (Sialkhat, Nagaon), Faruq (South Khatowal), Sadek Ali (Purba Lailuri) and Amir Haque (Jinjiya, Biswanath). Sources confirmed that one of the accused, Sadek Ali, already has a criminal case pending at the Kaliabor Police Station. Police officials are currently interrogating the suspects to determine their involvement in other crimes. Authorities believe this gang may be linked to multiple incidents across the region. Further investigations are underway.
