Aditya Ankur, Tezpur: In a significant move to enhance academic collaboration and cultural exchange, Tezpur University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Silpakorn University, Bangkok, on May 23. The agreement was formalized at the President’s Office of Silpakorn University. Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, and Prof. Tanasait Ngawhirunpat, President of Silpakorn University, signed the MoU in a ceremony highlighting mutual commitment to academic and cultural partnership. The MoU paves the way for joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and the sharing of academic resources. It also includes plans for collaborative seminars and workshops, and initiatives to deepen cultural understanding through interdisciplinary studies. Silpakorn University, renowned for its contributions to arts, humanities, and sciences, shares historical and cultural links with Assam through the Tai-Ahom and other Tai communities. Vice Chancellor Singh expressed hope that the partnership would enrich academic dialogue and strengthen India-Thailand relations. Representing Tezpur University at the event were Prof. R.R. Hoque, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Juri Gogoi Konwar, Head of Cultural Studies, underscoring the university’s commitment to global academic engagement.
