NFRSA Hosts 1st All Guwahati Inter-Academy Basketball Tournament

Staff Reporter, Guwahati: The 1st All Guwahati Inter Academy/School Basketball Prize Money Tournament, organized by the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA), concluded on a high note in Guwahati on May 29. Held from May 27 to 29, 2025, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 230 young athletes, showcasing the best of grassroots basketball talent across the city. The event featured intense competition across four categories — Under-14 Boys (4 teams), Under-14 Girls (4 teams), Under-17 Boys (6 teams), and Under-17 Girls (5 teams) — with a total of 38 matches played in a round-robin league format. NFRSA teams delivered a dominant performance, sweeping all four championship titles. In the Under-14 Boys’ and Girls’ categories, NFRSA clinched the top spots, while HBCC finished as runner-up in both divisions. Continuing their stellar form, NFRSA also emerged champions in the Under-17 Boys’ and Girls’ categories, with K.V. Narengi and HBCC finished second, respectively. The tournament not only highlighted the athletic prowess of Guwahati’s youth but also marked a significant milestone in promoting school-level basketball in the region. The matches were highly competitive and spirited, reflecting the dedication and growing interest in the sport among young players. NFRSA extended congratulations to all the participating teams for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the event. A special acknowledgement was given to the NFRSA Basketball Team, whose clean sweep across all categories was a testament to their preparation and talent. With this successful edition, NFRSA reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting sports culture in Assam. Plans are already in motion to expand such initiatives, offering more opportunities for young athletes to excel and pursue careers in sports.
