Staff Reporter, Biswanath Chariali: A joint operation headed by Biswanath SP Subhasish Baruah and a team of Sootea police was conducted against the alleged slaughter house located at Ghahigaon, on the northern part of Sootea which added fuel to the cattle smuggling and cattle thieving of the greater area of Naduar today. A large number of slaughtered cow heads including knives and scales used in slaughtering cows were recovered during the operation. The slaughter house has been run by Yusuf Ali and Injamul Haque, father and son in relation. The police team apprehended Injamul Haque. The police team seized four daos used to slaughter the cows, a knife and one weight machine along with 24 stolen cows that were kept hidden. The local residents alleged that the illegal slaughterhouse was supplying 15-20 quintals of beef daily to Sootea, Itakhola, Tezpur and Biswanath Chariali. A hindu village is located merely one kilometer away from the slaughterhouse. In this condition how has the slaughter been functioning here? The victims demanded the Sootea police to take strong action against the illegal slaughterhouse. A good number of victims who have lost their cows visited Sootea PS with a hope of getting their stolen cows. The conscious people have expressed satisfaction on the strict action shown by the Biswanath SP.
