Six-day Manas Festival starts from today

Staff Reporter, Bajali, January 25: The six-day Manas Festival kicked off today at Banhbari in Manas National Park, Assam, coinciding with National Tourism Day. The event aims to promote tourism in the region, showcasing the park's cultural and ecological significance. The festival's main gate was inaugurated by Dharmanarayan Das, executive member of the tourism department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), following the hoisting of the festival flag by Subhas Tirkey, president of the celebration committee. The inaugural programme was graced by BTR Executive Member Goutam Das and other notable attendees, including Salbari Council Constituency Member Jai Musahari and State BJP Executive Member Dhiraj Deori. The festival features cultural performances, traditional crafts, and activities designed to draw attention to Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It also aims to highlight the region's rich biodiversity and foster sustainable tourism. Residents and tourists alike are expected to attend the event, which will continue until January 30, offering a platform for the celebration of local heritage and wildlife conservation efforts.
