Staff Reporter, Bajali, January 25: The 77th biennial session of the Axam Sahitya Sabha (ASS), the biggest literary organization of Assam, will commence from January 31 to February 4 at Bhattadev Kshetra in Pathsala. The preparation for the session is going on in full swing and 70 percent of the work has been completed in Pathsala. Preparations are complete for the main stage, encompassing the book fair premises, trade fair, exhibition, and Naamghar. The committee members have arranged accommodations for the guests and expect over 500,000 representatives from across the state. The committee expects between 1,00,000 and 2,00,000 people to attend the five-day session. This year’s session will feature a science fair in Bajali hat, aiming to bridge the gap between science and literature. Additionally, a cultural program will be held to showcase the diverse traditions and cultures of various tribes in Assam and the Northeast. A massive japi, a symbol of Assamese culture, is being built at the site which is crafted from 1,500 ‘Tokou’ leaves sourced from Arunachal Pradesh, this japi will be a key attraction of the session. This magnificent structure will serve as a grand welcome for literature enthusiasts from across Assam and the nation. Ranjeet Kumar Dass, the president of the organizing committee, informed that more than 400 guests from both home and abroad will attend the conference.
