Centenary Annual Sports, Literary and Cultural Celebration concludes

If you give spiritual and character education to your children, then you will be assured that they will not go down an evil path. Lack of spiritual as well as character education is the root of present day's youth unrest and recklessness,"superintendent engineer of Lakhimpur district PH&E department Kumud Ranjan Hazarika said so in the open meeting and prize distribution ceremony of the four day-long concluding ceremony of Centenary Annual Sports, Literary and Cultural Celebration held at Sensowa playground, North Lakhimpur on Sunday last. "Do such work in a day which brings happiness at the end of the day,"he commented significantly. A prominent limerick composer Kumud Ranjan Hazarika enchanted the people by giving valuable advice on the importance of honest work and good health through self-composing limericks. In the meeting, presided over by social worker Mubarak Hussain, ex-Headmasters Syed Ahidur Rahman and Babul Saikia and Principal of Angerkhowa Chariali HS School Khirod Gogoi also delivered fruitful lectures. President of the celebration committee Atikul Hussain delivered the welcome address of the meeting while general secretary Syed Aftabuddin Ahmed explained the objective of the meeting who also offered vote of thanks. Several other dignitaries were also present in the meeting, apart from more than a thousand people. After the meeting, the winners of various sports, literary and cultural competitions that were held during the four days of the concluding ceremony, were given prizes. After the prize distribution ceremony, a cultural night was organised. Earlier, 101 centenary flags were hoisted on the first day of the ceremony e.g. on Thursday last. The concluding ceremony of the Centenary Celebration was organised under the ageis of Kamalaboria Anchalik Yuva Samaj,NGOs Yuva Kalyan,Goribor Bandhu and Royals Club and in association with all the people of the area from January 16(Thursday) to January 19(Sunday). The convenor of the celebration committee Syed Faizur Rahman expressed gratitude to all for making the event a grand success.
