Assam CM visited Mitu Kalita’s residence : Financial support announced

Staff Reporter, Baksa, October 10: Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the family of the Indian army jawan Mitu Kalita’s residence at Assam's Baksa district on Tuesday, who died in the recent flash floods in Sikkim. Mitul worked in Alipurduar and had gone to Sikkim on official duty when tragedy struck and he lost his life. While speaking to the media, Dr. Sarma said that Mitul Kalita was a real hero. It is a tragic loss for Assam. "My prayers for the departed soul & condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of grief," Sarma added. CM Dr. Sarma also announced to provide a one time financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to the family. Dr. Sarma assured to discuss with the army officials regarding employment of at least one member of the family or any other possible support from their end. State Handloom & Textile minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTR chief Pramod Boro accompanied him during the visit.
